OUR MISSIONS

  1. EDUCATION FOR ALL

Over 1.3 million women in the U.S enter menopause each year and may experience up to 34 different symptoms, yet most medical students receives less than 2 hour of education on the topic.

We say: Health professionals aren't adequately educated, and women aren't given routine consultations about the subject. The right training for health professionals means the right solutions and treatments will be offered. Part of our mission is to not only raise the alarm but to educate women that help is available, that they don’t need to suffer and that their symptoms can be managed if they better understand what is happening and how to best advocate for themselves.

2. ACCESS FOR ALL

There are huge disparities in access to OB/GYN healthcare across the U.S. Menopause impacts all women who live long enough to enjoy their post reproductive years.

We say: All women regardless of age, race ethnicity, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or any other potentially limiting factor should be educated about menopause and have access to evidence-based healthcare information. Menopause Mandate’s free information line will be available to all.

3. RIGHTING THE WRONG

The infamous WHI study of 2002 brought hormone replacement therapy to a screeching halt, which caused a generation of healthcare professionals to be incorrectly taught and put women’s health needlessly at risk.

We say: Hormone replacement therapy has a bad rap and women are suffering unnecessarily due to an outdated and poorly interpreted study. Menopause Mandate will educate women on the pros and cons of HRT to ensure they are armed with the right evidence-based information and the right questions to ask their healthcare provider.

4. WORKPLACE POLICY

A Mayo Clinc study estimates that menopause-related symptoms cost $1.8 billion annually in lost work time alone in the U.S. and sky rockets to $28 billion when medical expenses are added. And nearly 20% of women in menopause have quit or considered leaving a job due to symptoms.

We say: It is time for U.S. employers to start supporting employees in menopause by creating policies, offering benefits and raising awareness throughout the company. Menopause Mandate will be launching a Menopause Workplace Policy Pledge for corporations to adoptwith helpful resources.
